why do I give up things?

See this dessert...

Oh!  This one too...

Well, as of today (July 13, 2012) I am no longer able to eat these delicious desserts.  That is right!  I am giving them up.  Guess who talked me into doing this?  Trent!  How awful, right?  For some reason he thinks it will help us stay healthy.  We will see.  I have decided that I am only going to give this up for forty days.  Kind of like a late lent gig.  Whenever I have given something up for an extended period of time, my body has become uninterested in that food.

I don't think that will happen to me with my delicious desserts, but it will be nice to eat less sweets.  I hope all goes well and I do not have a sugar withdrawal.  I decided that I was NOT going to give up my chocolate milk because, come on, there is only like one teaspoon of chocolate syrup in that cup of milk!  Oh, and not giving up my chai teas.  I would not be able to function.  That is my coffee!

So goodbye delicious chocolate that always was there for me when I was feeling down.  Goodbye cookie dough.  I will miss you the most.

Wish us luck!

growing indoor plants can be a pain

Well, for the past two months I have been trying to grow an indoor herb garden.  It hasn't gone according to plan.  The plants are still alive, but they aren't looking so great.  I have been trying to keep them alive and to not overwater them, but it all comes down to...I don't know anything about growing plants!  I need someone, a professional or something, to teach me how to do this.

Since I can't really get a professional to help me, I have just been reading blogs and books about growing plants indoors.  I have decided that I need to build an indoor greenhouse.  I guess that will be my new project?  We will see how this one goes!

Oh, and I just made some delicious cupcakes.

mason jar love

If I cannot sleep, I drink chocolate milk.  I take a glass of milk and add some hershey syrup to it.  Stir it up and what do you have?  A delicious drink that helps me fall right to sleep.  I learned this from my good friend, Trent.  Maybe it is just a placebo, but hey!  It works.

While searching for a picture via pinterest, I cam across some other cute mason jar pictures!  I love these things and I recently started using mason jars for my "regular" drinking cups.  I actually just had some chocolate milk out of my mason jar...

Farm Fresh

One day,  I will have a [large] garden.  I will sell my produce at the local Farmer's Market.  It will be lovely.  For now, I will be ok with my indoor [mini] garden.

Wonderful Tea

Tea, it is what I love.  It is what I drink when I wake up in the morning and right before I go to bed.  When you drink tea with someone, you get to enjoy a delightful conversation with them.  Share interesting stories with each other.  Tea is something that I have learned to desire from my sensational Grandma.  Go to her house and you will find tea everywhere.  In the cupboard.  In her drawer.  Even in a basket lying on the table.  We will spend hours enjoying tea and just chatting about life.  Sharing interesting thoughts.  Learning from each other.  I find it to be valuable time spent with a loving individual.  [her favorite is Vanilla Rooibos]

Chai Latte is my downfall.  I get it from Starbucks almost every day.  Try one, you might understand why I am an addict.

Eating Right

Just recently (January) I have decided to exclude all meat from my diet.  I was not sure about it at first, but I told myself that it will be a great learning experience!  Turns out, it has been.

The thing I love most about giving up meat is looking for all the other meat-less meals out there.  I am able to try so many other new foods that I would have never thought existed.  Whenever I go out, I am always shocked at the vegetarian options they have.  Some restaurants are not so good at helping out the veggie eaters, but then some are.

Well, I guess I have a better chance at not having a heart attack anytime soon!

Above is a sandwich that I have come to love!  Wheat bread, pesto, provolone cheese, avocado and spinach leaves.  Put it all together, warm it up on the stove and enjoy this delicious treat.
